THIS DINNER CLUB IS DOING THINGS DIFFERENTLY
Next week, six people will sit together at a table without knowing who they’re about to meet.
This time, we’re getting more curious about who sits together. Trying a new matching format that leans further into your personality, interests and the things you could happily talk about for hours.
You might meet someone who shares your oddly specific obsession. Someone whose stories make the whole table laugh. Or someone you never would have crossed paths with anywhere else.
That’s the lovely unpredictability of Dinner Club. Nearly 600 people have taken a seat so far. Here is glimpse of good times from August.

SKY
Monday, Sep 14 at 7:20pm: Venus and the crescent moon sit right beside each other in the southwestern sky just after sunset, and Venus is the brightest thing up there, so you cannot miss it. Catch them early, they set fast. No equipment needed.
SIGHTING
If you enjoy photographing wildlife look out for underwing this week. A moth that looks similar to a plain grey bark until it opens its wings and flashes bands of deep red-orange. Flip a rotting log gently on your next walk, or leave a porch light on after sunset and see who shows up.
RIDDLE ME
Last week’s trivia: only 12% got it right, and honestly the wrong answer was the smarter guess. Nearly half of you said Silver Lake Park, which makes sense, because Silver Lake is the lake.

Two University of Waterloo researchers just won an Ig Nobel Prize in physics for designing a splash-free urinal. Zhao Pan and PhD student Kaveeshan Thurairajah, working with colleagues at Weber State and KAUST, built a shape they call the Nautilus. Read
Cambridge opened a new $1.65 million multi-sport court at Optimist Park on September 4, with a full basketball court, a second surface for pickleball, tennis and volleyball, a sensory free-play zone and accessible seating. Read
