Happy hot mid-week neighbours ☀️
Hope you’re staying hydrated while watching the World Cup! Too bad we can’t cheer Team Canada on anymore, but the beautiful game continues to bring people together. If you haven’t already, grab your friends, find a big screen at places like Kitchener Market, the Gaslight District, or Carl Zehr Square on July 11, and enjoy the excitement with everyone.
From global celebrations to local gatherings, there’s no shortage of ways to connect, explore, and enjoy summer in Waterloo Region.
Enjoy the rhythm of our region.
with love,
your friendly neighbourhood goose 🦆

We care deeply about where we live and like to support local. WRR partners with businesses we’d actually recommend to a neighbour. So if you’re a business owner or decision maker of a local business, reply to this email and let’s have a quick chat.

OUR WATER UPDATE
Last week, I shared the Region had promised new protections for the folks in Wilmot whose wells were running dry. This week, those promises got their first real test.

COME CURIOUS
What happens when we step outside our usual routines and experience our own community differently? This weekend, the Great Hespeler Reunion and Kultrún World Music Festival offer two very different journeys of discovery. One through local history, the other through global cultures. But both reveal something powerful connection begins when we show up curious.

ROLL OUT ROOTS
Work: multiple roles open, S&R Nursing Homes
Volunteer: Summer Day Camp Volunteer, Region of Waterloo Museum
House of the week: Custom build modern architecture
Adopt a pet: If you have Chauncy around you will never feel alone
AT HOME IN THE REGION
Last week, Cheryl matched neighbourhoods with zodiac signs and it was fun to see some of you say your neighbourhood matched your vibe.
This week, after helping a buyer secure their first home in Lincoln Heights, she’s imagining what a summer weekend there could look like.
Friday: Pizza from Canadian Pizza in Glenridge Plaza and a cozy family movie night in.
Saturday: Bike the Laurel Creek Trail into Uptown and a treat from Midnight Snack, then stop at Moses Springer Park.
Sunday: Walk to Zehrs for groceries, prep meals while the kids play outside, then wrap up the weekend with a family tennis match at Bluevale. Ask the neighbourhood group if they forgot something.
Everyday moments make a neighbourhood feel like home.

RIDDLE ME
Last week’s trivia: more than 85% got it right, looks like most have gone swimming in Elora quarry

RIFFS & RIBS
The image below has all the eateries I found playing live music this week.
If you are an artist playing in the region
or you have a restaurant / cafe / brewery that invites musicians
reply to this email and I’ll include you next week.
