All the world’s a stage….

Welcome back neighbours and hello to our new friends!!

No snow storm this past week and warm next few days, wow is it summer already? Haha, na we want to enjoy the snow a little longer! Hit the slopes, (snowshoe?) drink hot chocolate and make more meaningful connections. Speaking of, we have a lot of bright updates today, so bundle up and get ready to read… Oh, but first, today Kitchener Rangers are hosting a 🏒 pre-tournament game between Team Canada and Team Sweden before the 2026 World Jrs! If you are not going to the game, tune in 📺 and support! Ok let's do this.

Representing the Region

Alright, today I want to highlight a true gem of our Region, Green Lights Arts, a producing theatre company, making work that is thoughtful, brave, and refreshingly alive since 2014.

Now if theatre had a personality, they would be the friend who shows up early, asks the good questions, and somehow convinces everyone to stay a little longer. This group creates theatre that leans into real-life topics, the kind that don’t always fit neatly into polite conversation, but absolutely belong on stage. Their shows don’t just end with applause; they spark conversations, reflections, and the occasional “Huh… I hadn’t thought of it that way.” Which, honestly, is theatre doing its job right.

I felt this firsthand at their holiday cabaret on December 15, 2025. One minute I was laughing at a local comedian, the next I was moved by live music, and somewhere in between I was browsing a holiday market and donating to the Food Bank of Waterloo Region. It was festive, generous, and deeply human. Nobody rushed out, but lingered, always a good sign!

At their core, Green Light Arts is about making space, on stage and off. They centre underrepresented voices, keep learning as they go, and work to make theatre more accessible and welcoming. This is why the arts matter. Theatre expands empathy. Music opens doors. Creativity reminds us we belong to something bigger than ourselves.

If you believe that, too, consider supporting their work:

Because great theatre doesn’t just entertain, it brings people together, and that’s kind of everything, isn’t it?! 🙂
