NEXT FRIDAY, A FEW NEW FACES
They went to the same high school in Calgary but never met. Years later, Dinner Club brought them together here in Waterloo Region. Now they’re friends. 😊 That’s what I love about these dinners. You never know who’s been nearby all along. I shared their story today. Watch two of our neighbours tell it →
And the couples have spoken: October it is! Most of last week’s poll respondents picked this month, so couples signups are now open too.
Want to meet other couples? Choose “with someone” at the bottom of the signup form and sign up with your guest.
Coming solo? Choose alone to meet other solo guests. Solo guests and pairs will be matched separately.
Signups close Thursday, October 15 at 6:45pm
We’re getting together next Friday, October 16 at 6:45pm in Galt, Cambridge

MOST THINK THE PARADE ENDS IT
It doesn't. The downtown weekend is Friday to Sunday, the parade is Monday, and the four club halls run to closing night on October 17.
I added the rest to last week's piece. Everything new is highlighted.
Plus a new shortcut sorted by who you're going with, whether that's kids, a grandparent, friends who don't drink or a budget.

AT HOME IN THE REGION
with Cheryl Goetz, Real Estate Agent, REAL Broker Ontario Ltd.
A problem with the house isn’t always goodbye.
You’ve found a home you love. Then the inspection turns up something. Does that mean walking away?
Not necessarily. Cheryl recently shared that she’s helped buyers negotiate thousands off the purchase price after inspections uncovered issues that weren’t deal breakers.
The useful question is: what would it take to put this right, and who’s paying? Even when nothing major turns up, an inspection can help you understand how the home works and what needs attention first.

REGION'S RADAR
Half your ballot
In Kitchener, Waterloo and Cambridge you mark more than one regional councillor: four in Kitchener, two each in Cambridge and Waterloo. Mark one name and stop, and your other picks go unused.
All eight sitting regional councillors are running again, so this part of the ballot is a report card. Waterloo Region Votes gathers every candidate by ward, with whatever surveys they answered and the meeting recordings.
One more: four of the five Waterloo mayoral candidates debate at Laurier tomorrow, 7:30 p.m., Lazaridis Hall LH 1001. No registration.
Advance voting starts Saturday in Waterloo. Your date and the rest: the full guide

PRINCESS PICKS 🎬
with Princess Cinemas, est 1985
We know Terry Fox’s story. We haven’t seen it quite like this. Run Terry Run draws on 96 reels of previously unseen footage and unheard interviews, bringing us into the van and onto the road with Terry, his brother and his best friend. Princess Twin ♿️
Martin Short, Eugene Levy and Gilda Radner were all in the same Toronto production of Godspell in 1972. Imagine that cast. You Had to Be There… revisits the show that helped launch their careers. Princess Twin ♿️ and Princess Original
A documentary about concrete sounds like homework. Then John Wilson applies a Hallmark movie formula to it. That’s The History of Concrete, and now I have questions. Princess Original

CAN I BRING A FRIEND
with Elev8 Aesthetic Medicine
Sometimes the question before a cosmetic treatment is simply, “Can someone come with me?”
At ELEV8, the answer is yes. Their comfort guide welcomes a friend, family member or support person at treatment appointments. It also says you can ask your nurse to pause if you’re feeling overwhelmed.
Those are useful things to know before you’re sitting in the chair. If you’re curious but nervous, you can ask about that part of the experience, too.
